Brett MacLean
NHL Player 2007 - 2012
Brett was born in London Ontario in 1988 and grew up in Port Elgin. From 2004 - 2008 Brett played in the Ontario Hockey League with the Erie Otters and the Oshawa Generals, finishing with 288 points in 245 games. Brett lead the OHL in goals during 2007 - 2008 with 61 goals.
Brett was drafted in the second round 32nd overall in the 2007 NHL entry draft to the Phoenix Coyotes. Mr. MacLean was a two time American Hockey League all-star and finished with 203 points in 264 games over parts of 4 seasons. Brett was with the Coyotes and the Winnipeg Jets. On July 2nd 2012, Brett suffered a cardiac arrest while during a pick up game of hockey in Owen Sound, Ontario. due to the lifesaving efforts of Jason Silverthorn, Jason Gallagher and Jay Forslund with CPR and use of an AED, Brett was saved. Brett now attends the University of Waterloo for Sports Business and is a spokesperson for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. |
